Reclaimed antique pine wood and resin light block sculpture

Reclaimed antique pine and resin light block.

The wood from this sculpture was reclaimed from antique roof purlins.

As it had a very low moisture content, I was able to cure resin directly onto the wood.

The block was chiselled to create areas of negative space and create “windows” of light when the resin cured.

Before the resin was poured, I carefully placed very long life LED’s on a fine copper wire inside the “windows” and on the front of the piece, to highlight the grain.

Long life LED’s typically have a lifespan of 50000 hours. This would imply 11.4 years if operated for 12 hours a day, 22.8 years for 6 hours a day.

This is a made to order piece.

The dimensions are approximately 8cm by 16cm by 30cm
